... not yet, but in 24 hrs i will be!
All the excitement of just, EVERYTHING, has me sleepless. Despite that I have a list of anything I could possibly ever think of to pack, I am still worried that i'll forget some sort of necessity, pondering what is absolutely needed and what I should leave behind. What if I forget something? Will my checked bag be too heavy? What if I miss my flight? or Lord forbid I cant sleep on the plane! Questions rolling about in my mind like an unsteady sickness rolls about in the gut. .....breathe...... & pray :) I know that God is with me, and will be with me. Worrying should be out of the question. Whom/what shall I fear but him alone? He is my protection. My provider. My Jesus. Ask and it shall be given, right? Lord Jesus please be everything you are to me, please wrap your arms around me for protection, whisper in my ear when I don't know what to say, wipe my tears if I cry. Please let me trust you.
I will do my best not to worry, because I know i'm not going on this trip alone, my fathers coming with me.

There is an art to sleeping on a plane. An eye mask and earplugs are necessities--if you don't already have them, stop by Brookstone at the airport. While you're there, if you haven't already got a neck pillow or small travel pillow, GET ONE. Tempur-pedic makes some great travel pillows. Bring your ipod (fully charged) with a playlist of "comfort" music to help you relax. Eat a good, healthy meal before your flight so that you are not tempted to eat whatever is served on the plane. Put your own "Do Not Disturb" sign on your tray table along with your own bottled water. Try to get a window seat so you can lean against the wall instead of the drooling person sitting next to you :0~ Enjoy your flight.
ReplyDeleteRemember, all the great explorers started out afraid of the unknown and the undiscovered, still they chose to leave the comforts of home and sail away from the safe harbor. Great discoveries await you too! Bon Voyage!!!
Remember fear is also a gift. Use it to tap into your inner wisdom. Whenever I have been afraid, I ask myself, "What are you afraid of?" Then, I recall the Boy Scout motto, "Be Prepared." I think of all of the possible scenarios and how I could solve each dilemma. Just doing this exercise makes me feel better...
ReplyDeleteUh, did you remember a camera? If so, could you post some pictures? If not, would you email me your mailing address so I could send you one? :-)
